Who we are

Unpause ("we", "us") is an app that automatically edits talking-to-camera videos. Questions about this policy go to hello@tryunpauseai.com.

What we collect

When you reserve a founding spot (before launch)

• Email address, and, if you choose to share them, your main social platform and handle.
• Payment details, handled by Stripe, which sells website purchases to you as our reseller (merchant of record). We never see or store your full card number. Stripe shares with us your name, email, country, the amount paid and the last four digits of your card.
• Messages you send to us by email.

When you use the app

• Account details: your email, or the private relay email if you use Sign in with Apple.
• Videos you choose to upload, the audio extracted from them, the transcript (the words and their timings) and the edit decisions (which parts are kept).
• Technical details about each video, such as resolution, frame rate, length and file size, which we need to keep your quality intact.
• Subscription status and usage, such as how many edits you've used this month.
• A push notification token, so we can tell you when your edits are ready.
• Crash reports and basic product analytics (for example, "an edit finished" or "the paywall was shown"). These never include your video content or transcripts.

We don't access your contacts, your location or any videos you don't pick. The app asks for photo library access only when you choose videos or save an edit.

How we use it

• To edit your videos: transcribe the audio, decide what to cut, render the result and send it back to you.
• To run your account, process payments and enforce your monthly edit allowance.
• To send you service messages (for example, "3 videos ready" or receipts) and, only if you opt in, launch updates. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe option.
• To fix bugs, prevent abuse and keep the service secure.

We do not use your videos, audio or transcripts to train AI models, and we choose and configure our providers so they don't either (see below).

Who processes it for us

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Unpause: payments, hosting and video storage, speech-to-text, push notifications, email, and (later) crash reports and analytics. They only process data to provide their service to us, and our speech-to-text provider is set up so it doesn't keep your audio or use it to improve its models. Purchases on our website are sold by Stripe as our reseller, which also uses your payment details under its own privacy policy. In-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google.

We may also share information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or merger of the business (in which case this policy continues to apply).

We don't sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

How long we keep it

• Uploaded videos, edited outputs and transcripts: deleted automatically 7 days after processing, or immediately when you delete them in the app. Save your edits to your phone; we can't recover them after deletion.
• Account data: until you delete your account.
• Payment and tax records: as long as the law requires (often up to 7 years), even after you delete your account.
• Crash and analytics data: up to 12 months.

Cookies

This website doesn't set cookies or use analytics, advertising pixels or other tracking. Stripe's checkout page uses its own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud; see Stripe's privacy policy. If we ever add analytics or advertising cookies, we'll update this section and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• show you the personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
• correct it;
• delete it (you can also use Settings → Delete account in the app);
• stop sending you marketing emails.

Email hello@tryunpauseai.com from the address on your account. We'll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have additional rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google. Cancel it in your phone's subscription settings.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Videos are stored in private storage that can only be reached through short-lived links. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you about a breach that affects you as required by law.

Children

Unpause isn't for children. You must be at least 13 to use it, and under-18s need a parent or guardian's permission to buy. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn we have, we delete it. Contact us if you believe a child has used the service.

Where data is processed

We're based in the United States, and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
